Controguerra (DOC)

his wine is living proof of the great winemaking vocation of the Colline Teramane hills in Abruzzi, particularly the municipalities of Controguerra, Ancarano, Colonnella, Corropoli and Torano.

In 1996, when the Controguerra D.O.C. appellation was established, there were only a handful of winegrowers here and their vineyards didn't even cover an area 100 acres. But in spite of their restricted production capacity, these winegrowers strived to improve their products and didn't shun imported vine varieties, such as Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling, which were an absolute novelty in this area.

The results of this union between innovation and tradition show that they made the right choice: the wines they produce have enriched the panorama of the D.O.C. appellations of Abruzzi with a new range of products that can compete with both the best traditional wines and the more modern varieties that are the key, nowadays, to success on the international market.
