Colli Amerini (DOC)

ocated to the southeast of the Tiber in the province of Terni (Umbria), the Colli Amerini hills have been famous through centuries for their excellent extra virgin olive oil. In Italy, wherever there are olive trees, there are also vines. But, unlike most other parts of the country, at Colli Amerini the olive oil has often stolen the stage at the expense of the local wine.

In the '80s, local farmers came to realize that by improving the quality of their traditional wines (once quite 'rustic' and therefore not suitable for anything but local consumption) they could improve and complement the overall supply of the produce of their land. Thus they began concentrating on the improvement of their vineyards and cellars. The results have been very good and led to the establishment of a D.O.C. appellation in the year 2000.
