Cantina di Gambellara S.a.c.
Description
Cantina di Gambellara, was founded in the 1947 by a group of 26 founding members and was the first of its kind in Vicenza province.
At the beginning the amount of grapes harvested was just a few thousand quintals but over the years the continuing expansion of vine growing in the area as well as an increase in the number of members has meant a notable increase in wine production. It has therefore been necessary gradually enlarge the wine making facilities and to increase the handling capacity. Over sixty years later Cantina di Gambellara has a storage capacity of 160.000 hl and an average annual production of 120.000 quintals of grapes.
There are 265 members who cultivate about 650 hectares of vineyards altogether. The grapes come mainly from the area of Gambellara DOC but also from outlying areas of Soave and Colli Berici. And so it is for this reason that Cantina di Gambellara can boast a range of wines made from first class grapes matured on hillsides which have always stood out as excellent areas for vinegrowing.
