Tom Wark

Though one of the wine industry’s longest working wine publicists and media relations professionals, Tom Wark is best known for writing FERMENTATION: The Daily Wine Blog. FERMENTATION is one of the world’s top wine blogs focusing on wine marketing, wine politics and other industry-related issues—all guided by Wark’s tone of advocacy and urgency. Wark is also known for guiding the Specialty Wine Retailers Association as its executive director. In this capacity he has become a vocal advocate for retailers and a modernized three-tier system.

Wark has spoken at numerous wine industry events on topics as diverse as media relations, direct shipping legislation, public relations, blogging, social media and small winery marketing essentials. In addition he has testified numerous times at hearings in state legislatures across the country on behalf of wine retailers and consumers. He is the founder of the American Wine Blog Awards, a founder of the Wine Bloggers Conference and the author of the American Wine Writer Survey

Through Wark Communications he continues to serve a variety of clients from technology companies and media firms to wineries and industry associations. Wark is a regular source for writers and editors across the country on issues of alcohol regulations, blogging, wine marketing and wine writing. He obtained a Masters Degree in Diplomatic History from San Francisco State University and currently lives in Napa, California.
