Anticipation and enthusiasm around in Saratoga as many wait to experience first hand the effects of MADE IN ITALY Excellence at the Saratoga Wine and Food & Fall Ferrari Festival sponsored by the Italian Trade Commission. Aniello Musella Italian Trade Commissioner and Executive Director for the USA remarks how “pleased the ITC is to be the Presenting Sponsor of this year’s Festival.” “The festival” he says “will be a true celebration of Italy’s bounty. No other wine producing nation in the world has the winning combination of qualities that Italy does.”
Aniello Musella explains “This trifecta, Sun Soil and Soul, is what entices both wine experts and novices to experience the variety, complexity and quality that is synonymous with Italian wine and what distinguishes Italian Wine from all other wines. This is the reason why Italy is the leading wine exporter to the US maintaining its 30% market share despite this year’s economic downturn. Italy’s geographic position and fertile terroir coupled with its most precious, paradoxical ingredient, ITALIAN SOUL, elevate Italian wine into a class by itself. It is precisely this intangible quality that effortlessly marries cutting edge techniques with age old traditions, simultaneously promotes the cultivation of indigenous and international varietals and has the most talented collection of small and large wine producers in the world tending to their prized vines.”
The Italian Trade Commission together with SPAC has organized educational seminars that will explore Italian wine and authentic specialty products, featuring them in new and interesting ways that all attendees are sure to enjoy and learn from. The Italian Trade Commission has invited Kevin Zraly to host the Italian Wine Seminar. SPAC and Consorzio Grana Padano will present an exploration of Italian DOP cheeses hosted by Lou Di Palo.
The festival will underscore the versatility and superb quality of Italian wine and specialty products. Festival goers will leave the Grand Tasting with a newfound understanding of what exactly “Product of Italy” means having tasted the difference between authentic Italian products and their domestic counterparts.
Another highlight will be The Serata Italiana that will take place in the Hall of Springs on Friday September 11th. . During the Gala event, Saratoga’s Mayor Johnson will officially proclaim Italian Wine Week in Saratoga . Many local restaurants will celebrate this proclamation on the tenth with exciting Italian Wine Dinners featuring local wine experts and especially created wine pairing menus. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center will honor the Italian Trade Commission for its cultivation and promotion of Made in Italy excellence in the US along with dedicated philanthropist Mr. Lawrence Auriana,
